Brooks Run Club Shakeout Run

Start the marathon weekend off on the right foot with the Brooks Run Club! An easy 5K run to shakeout your legs followed by some light bites and coffee. Be sure to register early as space is limited! Keep an eye out for special guests!

Countdown to race day, and the best way to prepare is with Brooks Run Club, Fleet Feet & Chicago's own Anthony Rizzo. RSVP early and join us for this exclusive experience to run with a legend and capture your very own Chicago memorabilia.

Mile 0 | Shine Under Pressure

Let Brooks sweat the small stuff. Brooks will be out to support runners and spectators with last minute supplies to cover you from Mile 0 to Mile 27. Spectators can stop by the Hyperion House for cheer supplies. Runners can find us on your way to the corrals for last minute needs.

12pm – 6pm

Mile 27 Celebration at Brooks Hyperion House

Celebrate race day with fellow runners, family members, friends, Brooks employees, and athletes. Share race stories, enjoy refreshments, and close out an unforgettable Chicago Marathon weekend.

Hyperion Kiosk at the Hype House

CJ Albertson is a professional long-distance runner based in Fresno, CA. In 2024 he was seventh & Top American at the Boston and Chicago Marathons, Top 5 at the Olympic Marathon Trials, and owns the 50k World Record. In addition, he is one of the most interesting follows on Strava, a professor and Head Coach at Clovis Community College, and a father of three.

Clayton Young

Clayton Young is a professional marathoner based in Provo, Utah. The former NCAA 10,000m Champion at BYU broke through with a sub-Olympic standard performance at the 2023 Chicago Marathon before finishing runner-up at the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials and top 10 at the Paris Olympics. He has since added top-10 finishes in New York, Boston, and at the Tokyo World Championships, and enters this fall in career-best form after a 2:05 PB in Boston.

Thomas Farfard

Thomas Fafard is a professional long-distance runner based in Quebec, Canada. The 5,000m Olympic Finalist and NACAC silver medalist has been ramping up his distance in preparation to move longer races on the roads – eventually making his marathon debut last December. When he's not racing and training; Thomas enjoys spending time outdoors fishing, biking, and tinkering on machinery.

Susanna Sullivan

Susanna Sullivan is a professional long-distance runner based in the Washington, DC area. She balances training with teaching 6th grade math, coaching at George Mason University, volunteering at a local animal shelter, and has found time for a pool workout every day for the past five years. In 2023 she raced the marathon in Budapest at her first World Championships with a fractured kneecap and found redemption at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo where she stunned the crowd, her competitors, but not herself – by leading most of the race and finishing her epic day fourth in the world.

Haftu Knight

Haftu Knight is a professional long-distance runner for the Hansons-Brooks team based in Michigan. The Longhorn alumni quickly moved from the collegiate competition to the roads after finishing his collegiate career in Austin. This spring Haftu knocked nearly two minutes off is PB in Boston running 2:07:38. Over the summer he followed this result with personal milestones – marrying his wife in Ethopia and welcoming their first child.

Afewerki Zeru

A recent addition to the Hansons-Brooks team, he snagged an OTQ and PB (2:13:23) with his new team at the Chicago Marathon last fall. At 12 years old, Afewerki left Eritrea and spent four years in a refugee camp before being sponsored to resettle in the U.S. He relocated to Colorado and tried out for his high school soccer team to make friends. His senior year, Afewerki ran cross-country and put him on track to run at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, where he won an NCAA DII championship in the 5000m. Post-collegiately, he trained and raced with the Mckirdy group before finding his new home with the Hansons in Michigan.

Decided to continue his running professionally after wrapping up his collegiate career at the University of Wisconsin and Tulsa. He found success early in his transition to the roads, running 61 minutes in his half marathon debut last year. This fall he plans to debut in Chicago, hoping to learn the distance and dip under the OTQ mark for the full.

This year Ethan has translated his success from hist time at the University Wisconsin La Crosse to the roads.
